Welcome to Ekiti
State Universal Basic Education Board.
On September 30th
1999, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief
Olusegun Obasanjo formally launched the Universal Basic Education
(UBE) Programme, which was passed into law by the National House of
Assembly, thus creating the way for the take off of the programme.
The Ekiti State
House of Assembly immediately passed the UBE bill establishing the
Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board, which was approved by
the State Governor. This makes Ekiti one of the first states to pass
the UBE bill. These legal provisions of the National and State level
consequently changed the former National Primary Education
Commission (NPEC) to the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC)
and at the state level, State Primary Education Board (SPEB) to
State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB)
Education is one
of the personal freedom to which every human being should have a
claim and primary education is the foundation of all education
systems. The Enactment of the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education
Board fully empowered the board to a faithful implementation of the
UBE programme such that it will:
-
build a solid
foundation for qualitative education
-
revive the
failing standard of public primary schools
-
motivate
teachers to develop the pupils for dignified future
-
make our
primary schools a haven for knowledge of calm/comfort
-
provide a
conducive environment for effective teaching and learning
activities
-
provide
adequate care and supervision for the children
-
establish high
standard and modern nursery and primary schools
-
Improved
workers welfare and staff maintenance
The leadership of
the board continues to pursue academic excellence and rekindle the
fire of qualitative universal basic education in Ekiti State.
